Introduction
The ARRT MRI Clinical Experience rules have recently changed. As a result, candidates now face new standards for certification. At The Thomas Institute of Health Professions, we make this transition easier. Our 10-Week MRI with Clinical Option Program gives students the skills, confidence, and supervised training needed to meet ARRT standards and pass the exam.
What Changed in the ARRT MRI Clinical Experience Requirements?
According to ARRT’s announcement, the following key changes went into effect February 1, 2025:
- First, remote scanning is no longer permitted. Candidates must be physically present during procedures; therefore, remote or virtual scanning is not accepted.
- Next, the total spine has been added as a required procedure. This inclusion ensures comprehensive anatomical coverage during clinical training.
- In addition, soft tissue imaging—such as for tumors or infections—is now mandatory. This change emphasizes the importance of identifying subtle pathological features.
- Finally, the minimum clinical requirements remain unchanged: candidates must complete 21 different procedures, achieve 125 total repetitions, and perform no more than 7 procedures per day.

In addition, they make sure every MRI technologist can provide safe and effective patient care.
. At The Thomas Institute, we guide students’ step by step. First, you’ll learn the theory behind MRI. Next, you’ll practice these procedures in a supervised clinical setting. Finally, we review all registry content specifications to ensure you are confident for test day.
