Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Understand the basic principles of radiography.
- Describe ethical and legal aspects of patient care.
- Describe modes and challenges of interpersonal communication.
- Examine types of contrast media and their applications
- Discuss safe venipuncture techniques and management of tubes, catheters, lines, and other interventional devices.
- Understand safety and transfer techniques.
- Explain exposure factors and their effect on the final image.
- Describe the image acquisition process and associated errors.
- Recognize the purpose and management of exposure factors.
- Discuss the computer processing and image display process.
- Understand the basic digital image processing fundamentals.
- Apply quality management techniques and programs.
- Recognize the mechanisms for transfer, storage, and remote assessment of medical images.
- Understand principles of radiation physics and the biological effect of radiation

This course will provide you with approved continuing education, and continuous quality review credits.
Continuing Education (CE)
To maintain your certification and registration with the ARRT, radiologic technologists must report at least 24 approved CE Credits during their biennium.
Continuous Quality Review (CQR)
Radiologic Technologists will have a complete CQR once every 10 years for each ARRT credential you’ve earned since 2011. If you’re a Registered Radiologist Assistant, you will have to fulfill CQR for that discipline as well, regardless of when you earned it. See Credit Tabe for credit distribution.

Terms and Conditions
If a student misses a course, they have up to 1 year to take a future course equal value or more. If a student wishes to get a refund instead, there will be a $40 processing fee. The student must notify us in writing 10 days before the class start. After the 10 days, the student can take a future class up to a year from the notification. For refunds, please allow 30 days from the date of the request. No refund once the course starts. The Thomas Institute of Health Professions reserve the right to cancel any class due to low participation. Travel and lodging cost is the responsibility of the student. We recommend students use refundable lodging and travel.
